Encouraging Health & Movement
Fresh air and movement are essential parts of a child’s day—and your nanny can help make it happen consistently. Aim for 30 to 60 minutes of outdoor play, weather permitting. This could mean a walk around the block, free play in the backyard, or a trip to a nearby playground.
Keep it simple. You don’t need a big yard or fancy toys. Nature scavenger hunts, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, hopscotch, or even collecting leaves can turn into enriching, active adventures. For toddlers, movement games like “Red Light, Green Light” or “Follow the Leader” help develop motor skills and balance while making exercise fun.
Prepare your nanny with the right gear: sunscreen, hats, water bottles, and a small first-aid kit. Let them know your preferences around safety, park boundaries, or group outings with other children.
Outdoor time offers more than physical benefits—it also helps regulate emotions, improves sleep, and gives kids a break from overstimulation. If the weather isn’t ideal, look for covered spaces or bring movement indoors with a mini dance party or obstacle course.
By prioritizing outdoor play, you’re giving your child space to explore, move, and recharge—and showing your nanny you value fresh air just as much as screen-free structure.
